Special tricks are flashy moves that earn you big points and impress the judges at competitions. And you’re not going to get too far if you don’t know how to land them. Here’s everything you need to know about how to do specials in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2.
How to Do Specials in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2
The first thing you need to do before worrying about the inputs for your special trick is filling up the special meter. This bar in the upper left of the screen and, once filled, will glow and start flashing bright yellow/orange. You can fill the special meter by performing any regular tricks.
Now that you have a full special meter, it’s time to pull out those 900s, Misty Flips, and Darkslides. Every skater has pre-set special tricks that they can perform, but you can also add many more than the three that they know from the start.
If you want to customize their tricks or not, you’ll still need to go to their trick menu in order to find out what specials you can do. Press the Options (PS) or Menu (Xbox) button to bring up the pause menu. Hit R1 (PS) or RB (Xbox) to switch to the Skater tab in the pause menu.
Once you’re in the Skater tab, you should see the options to open the tricks screen. Once you bring that up, you’ll be able to see all of your special tricks along with the inputs required to perform them.
Just make sure that you have enough room to land your specials because even Tony Hawk can’t land a 900 jumping from a rail. Some characters will be better at certain types of tricks, but you should still figure out what you can land and where so you don’t waste your special meter.
If you bail just one time, then that bar will empty completely. Even if you’re not doing a trick, you will lose all the momentum you had with just one bail.
