How to Long Jump in Super Mario Odyssey

Recommended Videos

Super Mario Odyssey is bringing back all of Mario’s useful athletic abilities and adding a possessed cap just to make the adventure all the more exciting. Cappy, the spirit that has taken over Mario’s classic headwear, has introduced a ton of new tricks for Mario to keep up his sleeve. But in the midst of celebrating all the new tricks under Mario’s cap, you can’t forget about the oldies but goldies that were there for Mario long before Cappy arrived in Super Mario Odyssey, such as the long jump.

If we couldn’t rely on Mario to do much else, we could always rely on him to run and jump. With athletic abilities like triple jumps and wall jumping, there seemed to be no kingdom Mario couldn’t reach. While Mario’s usual long jump wasn’t included in Super Mario Sunshine — simply because the addition of F.L.U.D.D meant he didn’t have a need for it — the long jump does make a return in Super Mario Odyssey. If you find yourself just out of reach of where you need to go, a long jump could be just the trick to get you to new heights and close wider gaps that would pose a problem otherwise.

To long jump in Super Mario Odyssey, all you have to do is crouch while moving and then hit B or A to jump. Now you’ll see Mario perform a long jump that gives him some added height and distance when compared to his usual leaps.

That’s all you need to know to reach higher and further with Mario’s jumping skills in Super Mario Odyssey. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
