Is Spyro Reignited Trilogy Xbox One X Enhanced?
Spyro Reignited Trilogy delivers remakes of Spyro The Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon to Xbox One. Not only does it upgrade the visuals to glorious HD, but it is also the first time that these classics have ever appeared on an Xbox console.
Seeing as we can now play Spyro on the most powerful console of all time, you may be wondering how exactly did Activision and Toys For Bob take advantage of such a powerful machine?
Activision recently put out Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Xbox One, which supported both 4K visuals and HDR. So, did Spyro get the same treatment?
Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no. While the game is enhanced for Xbox One X according to the official list of games, how it takes advantage of the more powerful hardware isn’t very easy to tell.
As the official list states, Spyro Reignited Trilogy does not support 4K visuals like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. However, when asked about the enhancements, Activision told Twinfinite that the Xbox One X version will output at 1440p. So, a slight enhancement over the base versions of the game.
Likewise, the game doesn’t support HDR either. It’s sad to say, but Spyro Reignited Trilogy won’t currently be taking advantage of any fancy features that modern 4K displays have on offer.
Unfortunately, the frame rate cap isn’t increased on Xbox One X either. Spyro Reignited Trilogy is capped at 30FPS no matter what system the game is being played on.
While it doesn’t support 4K, HDR, or upgraded frame rates, the game will run better overall on Xbox One X. Owners of the Xbox One X can likely expect a steadier frame rate and less performance hitches by and large.
It’s hard to pinpoint all of the exact benefits of the Xbox One X version without comparing it side-by-side with Xbox One or Xbox One S hardware, but we’ll be sure to update this post as and when we know more details.
Also, it should be noted that there’s always a chance that the game could be updated in the future with additional features added for Xbox One X.
