How to Get the Lockpick in Shadow of the Tomb Raider
While Lara has a lot of the equipment she needs to save the day from the beginning of her adventure in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, if you want to see everything the game has to offer, you’ll need to pick up a few additional bits and pieces, too. The lockpick is one such item, granting Lara the ability to open all of those pesky padlocks you’ve likely seen on Conquistador treasure chests. Here’s exactly what you need to know to get the lockpick in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
First things first, don’t worry if you’re having to pass a bunch of the chests. The lockpick isn’t available until you reach Paititi, where you’ll first need to complete the side mission Takiy’s Dice. This side mission can be found right in the middle of the Hidden City, and you’ll need to talk to the young boy named Takiy. He tells you some dude stole his dice, so off you go to follow the quest marker and seek out the dead man to retrieve the dice.
You’ll need to head to the south-west corner of the Hidden City in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and seek out the guy praying in a building. Here’s the supposed dead guy. He’ll tell you that he never stole the dice, and will then advise that you talk to the other outcasts of the hidden city. Head to all of the outcast locations on the map, with the fifth one being revealed after speaking to the first four.
As soon as you’ve spoken to the fifth outcast, you’ll find out that she’s actually a merchant in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and it just so happens that she has the lockpick and rope ascender. Both of these are incredibly useful items, so be sure to buy them as soon as you can.
Once you’ve got a lockpick in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, you never have to worry about it breaking. Lara is seemingly an expert lockpicker and only needs the one to break into every single one of those chests you’ve had to walk past. Now it’s just a case of retracing your steps and tracking them down.
That’s all you need to know to get the lockpick in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. For more tips, tricks, and information on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
