How to Play With Friends in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

Since Sea of Thieves is an online-focused game that’ll see you come across other players as you explore the high seas, you’ll probably want to join some friends for some co-operative fun. Whether you plan to attack other crews, plunder for treasure, or simply explore, you’ll need to know how to play with friends before you start.

To make the most of your Sea of Thieves experience, you and your friends will probably want to be part of the same crew. To do that, you’ll need to boot up the game, and then select the type of ship you want to start with. Galleons let you partner up with up to three other players, while Sloops let you sail with up to one other player. After choosing your ship, you can then press the X button to invite friends from your friends list. If you don’t want to invite them, just choose the Set Sail option and the game will matchmake you with other players.

If you’re already in a game, you can’t invite friends to play with you. You’ll have to scuttle the ship, leave the game, then start a new one and invite them.

That’s all you need to know about playing with friends in Sea of Thieves. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
