How to Get & Start a Voyage in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

As you crash across the waves in Sea of Thieves, you’ll come across all manner of NPCs and enemies along the way. While enemies and other crews of pirates on the seas may not be the friendliest people you can meet in the game, there are ample characters who are willing to offer you a voyage and a handsome reward for doing so. It’s not just a case of getting a voyage, though, you’ll also need to know how to actually start it, too.

To get a voyage in Sea of Thieves, you’ll want to head to one of the faction NPCs dotted around the islands. For example, look out for a small tent with a key symbol on the side. Here, you’ll find Sea of Thieves’ Gold Hoarders, who have many a voyage for you to choose from. Keep in mind that each voyage has its own set price. While some are free to help you on your way, if you want to complete every voyage the game has to offer, you’re going to have to pour your hard-earned cash into buying them all. Once you’ve found the one you want to embark on in Sea of Thieves, press A and confirm it.

With a quest acquired, you’ll now need to return to your ship wherever you docked it. Once on board, you’ll want to head to the downstairs area of your ship – the cabin area of sorts, where the large map table is. Before looking at this, you’ll want to turn around and look in the corner of the room by the door you entered. You should see a table which, when you look at it, brings up the prompt ‘Propose Voyage.’ Now all you need to do is select the voyage you want to go on and you’ll begin a period of voting. If you’re playing solo, it’ll immediately start, if not, other players will have to vote for which of your voyages they want to go on. The consensus will win, and your next Sea of Thieves adventure will begin.

That’s all you need to know to get and start voyages in Sea of Thieves. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki.
