Rogue Legacy 2 carries over more than a few elements from the first game, but it also introduces some new mechanics that may stump players new and old alike. That’s why we’re here with a guide on how to open the first boss doors in Rogue Legacy 2.
Just as the first game does, Rogue Legacy 2 feature various boss rooms that you’ll try to reach on each run and the first one is pretty tricky.
How to Open First Boss Doors in Rogue Legacy 2
Instead of opening simply because you reached them, the first boss doors in Rogue Legacy 2 will only open if you’ve found the first two Heirlooms in the game.
A new addition to the series, Heirlooms are key items of sorts which grant you new abilities that allow you to progress further into the castle. These abilities range from dashing in midair to being able to read whispers that give you hints and flesh out the story.
They can be found in rooms marked by an orange flame, and once you reach these rooms you’ll find a statue you can interact with. Upon doing so, you’ll be tasked with completing a mini tutorial dungeon to obtain the Heirloom it holds while also learning how to use it.
How to Light the Torches
It’s admittedly a bit more leg work than the last game entailed, but it’s well worth the extra effort. In addition to unlocking vital new abilities you’ll need throughout your Rogue Legacy 2 playthroughs, each Heirloom will fully restore your health and mana.
Not only that, but you’ll need to use said abilities to open each boss door. Take the first doors you encounter: After obtaining both heirlooms, you’ll learn you need to light the two torches in front of the doors nearly simultaneously to open them. You can do so by hitting the first torch and then immediately dashing to the second to attack it.
Doing so will leave both torches lit at the same time, opening the doors and allowing you to take on the first boss of the game.
Hopefully this cleared up how to open the first boss doors in Rogue Legacy 2. For more on the game, check out our guide on whether or not you can change the difficulty manually.
