How to Fast Travel in Red Dead Online

Red Dead Online has finally arrived, just under a month after the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, and players are beginning to jump in. As you explore the Wild West, you may want to get somewhere quickly to meet up with friends or to begin missions. Well, here is everything you need to know about how to fast travel in Red Dead Online.

One of the disappointing parts of the base game was the poor fast travel options. However, as far we can tell, the options are a little different in Red Dead Online.

First of all, you can fast travel from any fast travel post that’s out in the world. As you explore the world, or take a look at your map, you’ll see some icons that look like signposts. These are physical posts in the world that let you fast travel to where your posse is, other specific locations, or your camp. They look like little posts with a wooden wheel in front.

You will have to pay a fee to do so each time, with the amount increasing the further away you are from where you want to go. Anything that your horse is carrying will be lost when you fast travel, however.

Also, once you have reached level 65 in Red Dead Online, you will be able to add a fast travel point to your camp that’ll move with your camp as it does.

Alternatively, you are able to fast travel in a way by entering the menu by pressing Options. You then need to choose the Online option, which is below Story, and then you’ll be able to navigate along the row of location tiles using either the d-pad or thumbsticks.

The options there will be things like ‘Free Roam West Elizabeth’ or ‘Free Roam Lemoyne’. By selecting one of these options you will leave the lobby you’re are currently in and dropped into the location you selected but in a new lobby. If you’re trying to do something lobby specific with someone else there, this might not be the best option.

At the time of writing, we are unsure whether the fast travel via trains and stagecoaches works in Red Dead Online in the same way as it does in the single-player. We will be sure to update you here as soon as we know, however.

That’s everything you need to know about how to fast travel in Red Dead Online. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 wiki guide that covers everything on the base game and more on the online mode as we get it.
