Pokemon Sword & Shield: How to Get Vullaby & Evolve Into Mandibuzz

Pokemon Sword & Shield is the grandest and most ambitious iteration of a tried and tested blueprint dating back twenty years, but many familiar mechanics remain in place. That includes evolving Pokemon, which is necessary for any trainer that wants to complete the 400-strong Pokedex. Not all Pokemon are evolved in the same way, though, so if you’re wondering how to get Vullaby and evolve it into Mandibuzz then here’s what you need to know.

How to Get Vullaby & Evolve Into Mandibuzz

Before you think about getting Mandibuzz you’ll need to catch yourself a Vullaby. That’s not as simple as just venturing out into the wild if you’re playing the Sword version of the game. That’s because Vullaby is a Shield exclusive.

If you are playing Pokemon Sword and want a Vullaby you’ll need to trade with someone who is playing Shield. Hopefully, you have a buddy who has that version; otherwise, it’s a case of going online and finding a trading partner. Here’s our detailed guide on how to trade Pokemon if you need help with that.

For those playing Pokemon Shield, Vullaby can be caught in Route 8 (all weather), as well as the Stoney Wilderness (normal weather).

Evolving Vullaby into Mandibuzz

Vullaby will evolve into Mandibuzz naturally once it has reached level 54, so it’s simply a case of building the experience of your Rolycoly.

Of course, all Pokemon level-up after being used in battle, but you can always use experience candy to level them more quickly. Candy comes in different sizes that each give a different XP boost, which is as follows:

  • XL – 30000
  • L – 10000
  • M – 3000
  • S – 800
  • XS – 100
