The mainline Pokemon games are known for having some strange methods when it comes to evolving particular Pokemon. If you’re having trouble figuring out just how to evolve Karrablast and/or Shelmet, we’re here to help. Here’s how to evolve Karrablast into Escavalier and Shelmet into Accelgor in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

How to Get Karrablast and Shelmet

First off, if you want to evolve either of these Pokemon, you’re going to need to find them first and luckily, in the Galar region, they can be found in the same locations in both versions of the game.

Karrablast and Shelmet can be found on Route 7, Bridge Field, Hammerlocke Hills, Motostoke Riverbank, and can also be obtained through Max Raid Battles. They are both mono Bug-type Pokemon so make sure to bring the appropriate Pokemon with you so that you a) don’t kill it and b) don’t let it kill you.

How to Evolve Karrablast into Escavalier and Shelmet into Accelgor in Pokemon Sword and Shield

Now, once you have them, evolving them is actually quite simple but requires you to trade with someone or with yourself if you happen to have two Switch’s with two copies of the game.

Time needed: 1 minute

To sum up how to evolve Karrablast into Escavalier and Shelmet into Accelgor:

  1. The only way for both of these Pokemon to evolve is by trading someone the other Pokemon.

    So you have to trade Karrablast for a Shelmet or vice versa.

  2. Once the trade is complete, the Pokemon will then evolve into Escavlier and Accelgor, respectively.

  3. Just make sure that you’re trading with someone that you know so that they can trade back with you to make sure you get all of your Pokemon back. You’ll need to coordinate anyways to make sure you’re both trading the correct Pokemon.
