If you’re looking to complete your Pokédex in Pokemon Sword and Shield, or want to evolve a specific Pokémon, then you’re probably trying to figure out how to track down every evolutionary stone in the game. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to get a Shiny Stone and what it’s used for.
How to Get a Shiny Stone in Pokemon Sword and Shield and What it’s Used for
As it currently stands, there are two ways to get a Shiny Stone in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
The first is to pick one up from Route 8, to the Northeast of Hammerlocke. To get it, head into the route until you come to a lower section of the area you can enter via a ladder.
Climb down the ladder and then head to your right until you reach another ladder leading up. Climb up the ladder, and then head further right until you run into a wall.
After reaching the wall, turn down and head through a stretch of grass until you come to another wall. Once you reach that, turn left and continue down the path until you come to an item on the ground, which will yield a Shiny Stone.
The other way to get a Shiny Stone is to cross the Lake of Outrage. After obtaining a bike and the Rotom upgrade which allows you to cross bodies of water, you can cross the Lake to reach a patch of land with eight large stones on it.
At the base of each stone are item glimmers that, when examined, will yield one of the eight evolutionary stones. Not only that, but these glimmers respawn after some time elapses, allowing you to farm up an infinite number of each stone.
Search each glimmer until you find a Shiny Stone, and if you need more, simply wait for a short period until they return.
Which Pokémon You Can Use Shiny Stones on
As for what Shiny Stones do in Pokemon Sword and Shield, it’s pretty straight forward.
Like with Fire Stones or Sun Stones, Shiny Stones can be used to evolve specific Pokémon:
- Minccino into Cinccino
- Roselia into Roserade
- Togetic into Togekiss
These evolutions will grant their respective Pokémon with a decent stat boost, but like with other Stone evolutions, it will lock them off from learning moves from leveling up that their previous forms otherwise would have.
That should cover everything there is to know about how to get a Shiny Stone and what it’s used for. For more on Pokemon Sword and Shield, check out our guide wiki as well as our guides on some hot topics like how to catch Eternatus and how to get a Dusk Stone.
