Pokemon Legends Arceus takes the iconic series in a new direction, opting for an open-world design and tasking players with crafting items like Poke Balls, and completing requests to catch Pokemon and fill out your Pokedex. From Darkrai to Shaymin, through to a Hisuian Growlithe and Sneasel, there’s a swathe of the pocket monsters out in the wild waiting for you to catch ’em all. Out of all the items you’ll come across on your adventure, the Mechanical Box in Pokemon Legends Arceus initially appears to be one of the more mysterious of them, as there’s no clear indication of what it actually does.
What Is the Mechanical Box in Pokemon Legends Arceus?
The Mechanical Box, for as mysterious as it sounds, is actually just a microwave.
We’re right in the early history of the Pokemon world, remember, so newfound contraptions such as boxes that emit radiation to heat your food clearly haven’t adopted a more consumer-friendly name yet.
In terms of its use in Pokemon Legends Arceus, it’s one of five Mechanical items that can be used to change Rotom’s form once you’ve caught one. They can all be purchased from Ginter once Rotom has been caught.
Getting the Mechanical Box
- Speak to Ginter outside Galaxy HQ in Jubilife Village.
He’s next to the Ginko Guild cart just to the right of the large double doors of the HQ. He’s also wearing a blue and yellow hat.
- He’ll offer you the Mechanical Box first for $10,000.
As long as you’ve got the money, confirm you’d like to buy it. The item won’t appear in your inventory, but will immediately go to your house in Jubilife Village.
Should You Buy the Mechanical Box?
Yes, you should buy the Mechanical Box in Pokemon Legends Arceus, as the microwave can be interacted in your room once purchased to change Rotom’s form to its ‘Heat’ form.

- Mechanical Circular Saw: Mow Rotom Form – Purchased from Ginter for $40,000
- Mechanical Cabinet: Frost Rotom Form – Purchased from Ginter for $20,000
- Mechanical Pinwheel: Fan Rotom Form – Purchased from Ginter.
- Mechanical Tub: Wash Rotom Form – Purchased from Ginter for $20,000
Once purchased, each item will automatically be delivered to your room in Jubilife Village. Then go over to them and press A to change Rotom’s form as and when you wish.
