Pokemon Go: How to Get Jirachi (A Thousand Year Slumber Quest Guide)

After what seemed like an eternity of the Pokemon Go Twitter account teasing the release of Jirachi, the Wish Pokemon is finally coming to the game with the most recent set of Special Research tasks. There’s only one way to get this Pokemon and it’s all part of the ‘A Thousand Year Slumber’ quest. Here’s how to get Jirachi in Pokemon Go.

This Psychic/Steel Pokemon isn’t the most powerful raid attacker out there, but it’s a beast in PvP battles. Of course, it’s still important to make sure your Jirachi has an optimal moveset.

The best fast attack for the mythical Pokemon is Confusion. Charge Beam doesn’t come close to matching the damage output of Confusion. Here are Jirachi’s fast attacks:

Jirachi learns the move Psychic, but despite its same type boost, the attack just takes too long to charge compared to the Fairy-type Dazzling Gleam and the Steel-Type Doom Desire. Here are Jirachi’s charge attacks:

Jirachi’s Psychic/Steel-typing means that Dark, Ground, Fire, and Ghost moves will do some heavy damage. A moveset of Confusion/Dazzling Gleam will destroy any Fighting-types that get in your way.

That’s also the optimal moveset for Jirachi in general because of how powerful those individual moves are. Doom Desire is a good secondary option if you don’t feel like burning a Charge TM.

Jirachi is a solid Pokemon, and may quickly become a must-have for most PvP teams. Its stats won’t make it a raid slayer, but it’s good enough to use as a Fairy or Steel secondary counter. Here are Jirachi’s stats:
