Hit Them With Their Weakness
When encountering a new shadow in Persona 5, your best tactic will be to hit them with every elemental attack you have. This will allow you to see their weakness, and it will register forever basically. From then on, you’ll be able to just hit R1 and quickly go to whatever will make them drop. Keep in mind that your gun can also be a weakness for some shadows, particularly ones that fly, I’ve found.
Making sure that everyone is dropped also holds a great strategy within Persona 5. When all enemies on a field have been dropped based on their weakness, you can enter a “Hold Up.” At this point, you can negotiate with them, or you can easily kick their butt with an All-Out Attack (triangle). This will be a really cool team attack that will wreck your opponents for a quick win.
Fuse Personas
You’re not only able to convince different shadows to become new Persona for your team, you can also fuse two or more in your arsenal in order to make a new one. Doing so is really easy. Just head over to The Velvet Room, found in Shibuya or at the beginning location of any Palace. Once you go in through the blue door, you need to talk to Igor and he will allow you to fuse.
You will lose both original Personas, but the one you get will be stronger and will have a hybrid of abilities from the two you use. It’s always worth doing, you just need to make sure you don’t fuse way higher than your character’s level.
Spend Time With People
The most fulfilling part of Persona 5 is how many friendships and bonds you can form throughout the game. Not only does this enrich the story and experience for players, but it also holds benefits for kicking butt in battle. As you level up your social links, you will get new abilities to use with your squadmates, and the Personas that you fuse will be way stronger than they originally were. The more time you put in, the more benefits. Given these pluses, you’ll want to spend time with any confidants that you can, when you can. They’re not available to hang out with all the time, so taking advantage of when they are is important.
Raise Your Stats
In Persona 5, there are certain stats that will apply to your real world, daily life. You can increase your character’s knowledge, charm, kindness, proficiency, and guts. They’ll open up new things for you to do as well as whole new dialogue choices when you’re able to use them.
Raising them is easy, but it takes time. You need to spend your time by doing certain activities that will raise them, like studying in a library, reading a book on charm, attempting to eat a massive burger, etc. There are so many different ways to do this, but just keep in mind that you will pass time by doing it. It’s worth it in the end, though, as you can unlock awesome stuff only once you have the high enough stat for it.
Sell All Treasures
While you’re infiltrating a Palace, you will come across a ton of treasure from defeating shadows. You will also be able to swipe treasure by scanning the room when you hold L1, and picking up whatever loot you find. This is all completely useless to you, but will sell for quite a bit at the Airsoft Shop in Shibuya. This is how you can make some great dough to buy weapons and armor. I personally don’t even bother with the part-time jobs because I can just get the same amount of money very quickly within a Palace, and then I’m free to do whatever I want with my time for the day.
Train In Your Room
At one point in Persona 5, Morgana will teach you to train your body in your room with a chair and a ceiling beam. You can from then on opt to spend your time training with her at night, and this will lead to increasing your health by five points each time you do it. I might not seem like a lot, but if at first you have nothing to do at night while you’re in your room, it’s smart to spend the time wisely by at least raising your health for battle. This is the running theme in all of Persona, after all; make productive use of the time you have!
