Can You Have Multiple Saves in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl?

Unfortunately, no, you can only have one save file in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/ Shining Pearl per user account on the Nintendo Switch.

This has long been the case with the Pokemon series and it doesn’t show any signs of changing in these latest releases.

It is possible, however, to start a new game and overwrite your existing save file if you’d like to start your adventure all over again.

You can also create have a second or even third save by creating new user accounts on your Nintendo Switch. Each user account will have one save file for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Resetting & Starting a New Game

  1. Go to the Home screen on your Nintendo Switch and go into System Settings by pressing the small cog icon.
  2. Select “Data Management” and then go to “Save Data/ Screenshots and Videos.”
  3. Scroll through the list until you find Pokemon Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl and press ‘A’ and then choose the “Delete” option.
  4. Confirm you want to delete your save data for the game and it’ll be wiped from your Switch.
  5. Load up Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/ Shining Pearl and you’ll be ready to start a new game.

Keep in mind that if you do delete your saved data, any Pokemon within that file will be gone forever.

That includes your Manaphy and Phione received via Mystery Gift. Once the event ends in February next year, you won’t be able to get them yourself again, you’d have to trade.
