Getting Shells Fast in Moonglow Bay

The best method we’ve found of earning Shells quickly is to use what appears to be a bit of a cheese in the game. First off, head to the beach just outside your home and do the bait mini-game to gather a bunch of Rhino Sand Fleas. Do this as many times as you want. The more fleas you have, the more money you’ll make.

Now head home and go to your kitchen to start cooking. You’ll now want to choose the Grilled Oyster recipe from the second page (note: you’ll need the Fillet Knife and Meat Cleaver for this).

You’ll notice that, for whatever reason, you can actually use the Rhino Sand Flea as the required ingredient to cook it. We’d also recommend heading to the Sea Market and purchasing the upgrade to batch cooking to speed up the process here.

Go ahead and cook the Grilled Oyster dish and try perfecting it as best you can. The more stars the dish ends up being, the more money you can sell it for.

Now place the abundance of Grilled Oyster dishes in your vending machines. One of them will sell for 225 Shells, so gathering 15/16 Rhino Sand Fleas, minus the 80 Shells it costs to cook the dish will net you over 2,000 Shells a turn.

We’re not entirely sure whether or not the Rhino Sand Flea is supposed to work as an oyster, but we’d recommend doing this as much as you can as soon as possible in case it gets patched out.

Other Ways to Earn More Shells in Moonglow Bay

There are a few other ways you can earn Shells other than simply selling your dishes in the vending machine. Some of these provide a passive boost, however, so just keep that in mind.

Bulletin Board

Visit the Bulletin Board every day and complete any tasks the locals have requested. These can be incredibly easy and often net you 100-200+ Shells each time.

Renovating Other Properties

By renovating other properties around Moonglow Bay, you’ll actually increase the amount you can sell fish and cooked dishes for in your vending machine. You know what they say, you gotta spend money to make money!

Donating to the Aquarium

Similar to renovating areas of Moonglow Bay, donating more and more fish to the aquarium will increase the amount you can sell products for in your vending machine. We always hand over the first of any species to the aquarium, and then sell or cook with any others we get after that.
