To get right to the point, you can change your Activision Name in Modern Warfare by going online and changing it through the game’s official site or Activision’s official website.

First, go to either site and log in to your Activision and/or Call of Duty account. Once you’ve done this, open the basic info tab. This will display info related to your account, including what your current Activision name/ID is.

If you move the cursor over to your name, the option to edit your current name will become available. Select the edit option, and from there you’ll be able to change what your Activision name will display is both on the site and in Modern Warfare.

How to Remove Name Tags

However, it should be noted that if the name you intend to use in Modern Warfare has already been used, it will be followed by a number tag to reflect which version of this name you’re using; in other words, whether you’re player 1 or player 22675.

If you’d prefer this tag not show itself during matches, you can remove it by going to the options menu in game, selecting the account tab and switching display name tags to disabled.
