Obsidian Entertainment showed us even more of its upcoming futuristic RPG title, The Outer Worlds, which looks a little bit like a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed Fallout: New Vegas. Since it’s due to release a little later this year, some players may be wondering if it’s going to rock up on the PS4. Well, here’s what you need to know about Outer Worlds on PS4.
Can You Get The Outer Worlds on PS4? What You Need to Know
Okay, so let’s cut right to the chase here. The Outer Worlds is coming to the PS4, and on the same day as the Xbox One and PC no less. This might be a little confusing to some readers, however.
That’s because despite Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind this upcoming sci-fi RPG, is now a part of the Microsoft Game Studios team, making it a first-party studio.
That means that it’s the equivalent of, say, Sony’s Guerrilla Games who made Horizon Zero Dawn, or the legendary team over at Naughty Dog who created titles such as Uncharted or The Last of Us. However, the acquisition was made long after The Outer Worlds was in development.
As such, while it’s likely that Obsidian Entertainment’s future games will be exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles, The Outer Worlds is a multi-platform title.
The acquisition of Obsidian Entertainment by Microsoft was one that the publisher hoped would bolster its lineup of exclusive titles for the Xbox One. Though we’ll have to wait and see what the developer’s first Xbox exclusive title is, The Outer Worlds looks like a promising sign of things to come from the developer.
To sweeten the deal for Xbox and PC owners looking to pick up the title, though, The Outer Worlds will launch on both Xbox Game Pass for Consoles and PC on the very same October 25 release date, offering some great value to subscribers.
That’s everything you need to know about whether or not The Outer Worlds is coming to PS4. For more tips, tricks, and general information on everything video games, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
