Is Devil May Cry 5 Coming to the Nintendo Switch?

Recommended Videos

Devil May Cry 5, the latest installment in the stylish hack-and-slash series, will grace fans’ consoles come March. With the game available on so many platforms, some might be wondering: Is Devil May Cry 5 coming to the Nintendo Switch?

The short answer is no. Devil May Cry 5 is currently slated for release only on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with no indication by the game’s publisher Capcom that it will ever see a release on Nintendo’s current console.

Though there’s no clear reason for this, it isn’t all that surprising for those who have followed the series since its launch. Devil May Cry began as a PlayStation exclusive series, and it was only with the release of Devil May Cry 4 that it went multiplatform.

Likewise, the game may be too demanding for the Nintendo Switch’s hardware. From what has been seen of the game so far, Devil May Cry 5 is cutting edge in its graphics and gameplay, both of which require a lot of processing power to pull off.

While the Nintendo Switch is certainly nothing to sneeze at, its processing power is well below that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, let alone a well-made gaming PC.

It’s not entirely impossible that a version of Devil May Cry 5 could come to the Nintendo Switch someday, but as it stands, the prospect of a port anytime soon is incredibly unlikely.

That said, fans of the series who are limited to a Nintendo Switch aren’t entirely out of luck. Bayonetta, a spiritual successor to the Devil May Cry series, is a Nintendo exclusive with the same style of over the top, hack-and-slash action.

Both Bayonetta 1 and 2 are currently available on the Nintendo Switch, and though not as close to release as Devil May Cry 5, Bayonetta 3 is in development as well.

Hopefully, this clears up any confusion about if Devil May Cry 5 is coming to Nintendo Switch. Devil May Cry 5 is slated for release on Mar. 9, 2019.

TLDR;
