Change and Customize Weapons in Saints Row

Your character starts near the bottom of the gang totem pole at the start of the game, and a variety of weapons do not come by easily. Guns and melee weapons must first be purchased at Friendly Fire shops littered around Santo Ileso, marked by a green circle with a gun icon.

Weapons can be equipped in the shops, or within your apartment/home base. Different weapons can be equipped at any time, though only one from each category like pistol and assault rifle. To take them out, open the Weapon Wheel by holding LB/L1, use the right thumb stick to hover over the weapon, and release the button. That is also how you change and switch between your weapons.

Customizing your weapons requires traveling to either a Friendly Fire shop or your apartment/home base. Go up to the shopkeeper/gun icon, pick the weapon you want to customize, and select Customize. You will see a screen like this down below, and you will be able to change how your weapon looks with a variety of options.

There are even Visual Mods that will change your weapon’s look completely, instead of a simple skin, such as changing it to giant foam finger or a guitar case. The changes are purely cosmetic, and do not affect attributes like damage, accuracy, or fire rate. These Visual Mods can be earned by completing specific missions and challenges.
