Wondering how to get a Scythe in Destiny 2’s new Season of the Haunted? This guide will explain everything you need to know.
Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted has arrived, bringing with it a new Season Pass, exotics like the Trespasser, new Solar 3.0 abilities, and a chunk of new gameplay content to grind through. A lot of this focuses on the Derelict Leviathan, found within the ‘Moon’ section of your Director. As part of the new season, players can get their hands on a Scythe weapon to help them during Nightmare Containments.
How to Get a Scythe in Destiny 2
The Scythe can only be used during the Nightmare Containment activities. These can be started once you’ve completed the Operation Midas mission which will immediately start when loading up Destiny 2 during of Season of the Haunted for the first time.
After this, head to the HELM and get the Nightmare Harvester artifact from the Crown of Sorrow in the ‘Wing of the Haunted.’ Decrypt one of your Umbral Engrams here, and then head to Master Rahool at the Tower to discuss them with him.
After grabbing this, select ‘Castellum’ from your Director and you’ll be transported to the Derelict Leviathan. This will begin the Nightmare Containment.
Here, you’ll need to take down a ton of enemies while on the Derelict Leviathan. Each enemy defeated will charge the Nightmare Harvester. While you’re charging each harvester, Cores of Dread can drop from the Dread Bearer enemies. When one of these drops, the Scythe should appear in close proximity to the Nightmare Harvester, but you’ll need to be fast to grab it before anyone else taking part in the Nightmare Containment.
When the Scythe appears, go ahead and pick it up and you’ll be able to start using it to cut down the enemies in the area. It only has a limited amount of ammo, however, so keep this in mind when using it. We’d recommend focusing on the tougher enemies, rather than letting the Ads distract you.
The Scythe will always appear on the Derelict Leviathan whenever a Core of Dread drops. From our experience thus far, it isn’t a permanent weapon you can take to other planets.
