How to Manually Save in Horizon Forbidden West

How to Manually Save in Horizon Forbidden West:

  1. To save your game, you’ll need to find a Campfire.

These are marked on your map with a campfire icon, and can also be found at Settlements and Shelters.

  2. When standing next to a campfire, press Triangle to perform a Quick Save, or press Square to perform a Manual Save.

From our experience, a Quick Save simply overwrites your existing save file automatically while pressing Square for a manual save will allow you to create a new save file, or choose which file you want to overwrite. You can also fast travel from Campfires for free.how to save horizon forbidden west

Is There Auto-Save?

Yes, the game does have an auto-save feature, but from our experience, it happens far more frequently when playing through one of the main quests, rather than when you’re simply exploring the open world.

You can check when your most recent auto-save was by pressing Options on your controller and then going to the ‘Load Game’ option in the pause menu. This will bring up all of your save files, and any with [Auto] at the end are auto-saves.

That’s everything you need to know on how to save in Horizon Forbidden West. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to head over to our wiki, or see more of our coverage on the game below.
