Genshin Impact: How to Beat Ruin Serpent Boss Fight

Version 2.6 of Genshin Impact introduces a whole new world boss inside the newfound Chasm area that’s located in the southwest region of Liyue. It’s another Ruin enemy, so it’s a bit trickier than simply using the right elemental weaknesses. If you’re having trouble, we’ve got some pointers. Here’s how to beat the Ruin Serpent boss in Genshin Impact.

The first thing you need to do before attempting to take on this boss is to upgrade the Lumenstone Adjuvant gadget to level two. You can do so by speaking to Jinwu at the Ad-Hoc Main Tunnel campsite in The Chasm.

Complete the Chasm Spelunkers quest to receive Lumenstone Ore — an item Jinwu needs to refine the Adjuvant. Getting the gadget to level two will allow you to destroy the dark purple Oozing Concretions that the boss summons, which can lower its attack and even paralyze it.

Now that the preparations are made, it’s time to begin the fight. Since it’s a ruin enemy, it’s equally resistant to all elemental damage. This means that you can just go with a favorite elemental team comp.

With that said, aim to prioritize ranged or AOE attackers like Ganyu, Yoimiya, Venti, or Fischl in order to hit the serpent’s weak points from a safe distance. The exception to that is if you have a physical, close-range DPS with great supports to keep them alive like Zhongli, Diona, and Bennett, or even Barbara and Qiqi.

Also, consider bringing a claymore user or a character that’ll launch you in the air like Kazuha or Venti who can help destroy ore as fast as possible. You’ll need to break golden ore like the one in the image below to refill the Adjuvant.

The Ruin Serpent will start things off by draining the Lumenstone Adjuvant, but you can avoid this by not having it equipped at the start of the fight, then re-equipping it. Then, it’ll likely create those Oozing Concretions I mentioned before. Break the glowing golden ore that appears and use it to get rid of those ASAP since the boss can absorb them for a buff.

The serpent will glow in certain spots on its body when this charge up is happening. If you manage to destroy all of the Concretions before the charge is done, the boss will get paralyzed. Alternatively, you can also hit all of the glowing spots on its body to paralyze it if the Lumenstone Adjuvant is drained.

It’s even possible to bait out the charge by destroying all Concretions except one before the charge begins, then destroy the one you left to paralyze the serpent quickly once the charge actually starts. The paralyzation moments are your chances to deal the most damage, so don’t waste them.

Outside of those moments, the Ruin Serpent will roll around the arena, burrow underground to create vortexes, launch bombs into the air, and use AOE slams that all deal physical damage.

To avoid the vast majority of its moves, just wait slightly outside of the arena’s boundary. You don’t want it to use the Concretions, though, so destroy them carefully while moving around the edge of the stage if you’re having trouble avoiding damage from close range.

Switching to your strongest main DPS should make short work of the serpent whenever it can’t move and it can’t heal like some other bosses, so this should be easier by comparison.

That’s everything you need to know about how to beat the Ruin Serpent inside The Chasm in Genshin Impact. Be sure to check out our guide wiki for more tips, tricks, and other boss guides.
