Fortnite Chapter 2 bots

Fortnite Chapter 2: Are There Bots? Answered

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite Chapter 2 officially kicked off earlier this week, following the black hole event that took place over the weekend and sucked the entire map into nothingness. Alongside new cosmetics, the ability to upgrade weapons, go fishing, and swim in bodies of water, Epic Games has also added a few other more subtle features. Here’s whether or not there are bots in Fortnite Chapter 2.

Are There Bots in Fortnite Chapter 2? What You Need to Know

Let’s cut right to the chase here. Yes, there are bots in Fortnite Chapter 2. This was something that Epic Games actually announced a few weeks ago when Season X was still going on.

As part of the improved matchmaking system, bots will populate matches with players of a lower skill level. This is to enable newcomers and low-skilled players to have a more balanced experience, while also ensuring there’s still an element of challenge involved.

You should begin to notice that as you improve in Fortnite, you’ll play against fewer bots and the players you’re thrown into a game with will also be of a higher and equal skill level to yourself.

From our experience with bots in Fortnite Chapter 2, though, the bots aren’t all that intelligent right now, and they’re quite obvious to spot in a game.

How to Spot Bots in Fortnite Chapter 2

The easiest way to know if you’ve found a bot is to simply watch what they’re doing from a distance. Bots have a tendency to just try and smash through whatever wall’s right in front of them, rather than running through doorways or other simpler ways around wherever they want to go.

Similarly, they just play kind of dumb. They won’t be doing any complex building (including crankin’ them ‘90s), and if you shoot them, they’ll often take a while to turn around and return fire.

Will Fortnite’s Bots Get Better in the Future?

According to Epic Games, that is the plan, yes. In the post linked above which dives more into the matchmaking, bots and controls improvements that have recently dropped for Fortnite, the developer lists the following questions and answers:

Can Bots use vehicles? Can Bots do 90s?
Not yet, but long term we’re looking to see how far we can push our Bots.

Can I play a match entirely against Bots?
We’re looking into a “vs. Bot” mode as a means to sharpen your skills, explore the map, and help elevate your game to the next level.

As such, it certainly seems like bots are here to stay in Fortnite Chapter 2 and will continue to improve and be available in more modes to enable players to further refine their Battle Royale skills.

Are There Bots in Fortnite?

Yes. They were added as part of Fortnite Chapter 2’s update. The better you get, the fewer bots should be in your matches.

That’s everything you need to know on whether or not there’s bots in Fortnite Chapter 2. For more tips, tricks, and guides on the current season, be sure to check out our Fortnite Chapter 2 guide wiki, or give more of our guides down below a read.
