In 2020, F1 drivers have a few different ways to boost the power of their cars for a few seconds and they all feature in F1 2020. One that’s been in the motorsport and game series for so long is DRS (Drag Reduction System), which opens up a slot on the rear wing to give cars a boost along straights. So that you can take advantage of them, here’s everything you need to know about how to use DRS in F1 2020.
The first thing that is worth noting is that DRS can only be used after the first two laps of a race, no matter whether you’re doing a full-length race or just five laps. You’ll be notified that it’s live by a message from race control at the top of the screen after the second lap. It will also be taken offline when the safety car is out.
Also, you need to be within one second of the car in front to activate it. The detection point is shortly before the activation point, so stay close to the car in front to get the boost on the next straight.
How to Use DRS in F1 2020
You’ll see the DRS activation indicator in the bottom right of the screen, by the speedometer. A distance meter will count down as you get close to the white line on the track that starts the DRS zone and the area will turn orange once it hits zero.
Then, to turn DRS on, press triangle if you’re on PS4 (Y on Xbox One) to activate it and open the flap on the rear wing.
You should then be able to feel the car going a little faster along the straight, hopefully helping you overtake the car in front.
Then, once the DRS zone has been passed, it will turn off automatically. You can turn it off manually while racing by pressing the same button, but I’m not sure why you’d want to do that.
That’s everything you need to know about how to use DRS in F1 2020. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
