How to Increase Era Score in Civilization 6: Rise and Fall
Your era score in Civilization 6: Rise and Fall is an important new mechanic related to the new ages featured in the expansion. Your civ can go through four different ages depending on how well you’re doing with your era score: dark age, normal age, golden age, and a heroic age. Your era score at the end of an era (in this case meaning the ancient era, classical era. etc.), is what determines what age you enter.
What the era score actually is, is a counter that can be viewed at the bottom right of the screen that counts up as you gather accomplishments throughout the game. To increase your era score and enter the age that you want to enter, you need to go out and achieve things in Civilization 6: Rise and Fall. Some examples of things you can do that would increase your era score in Civilization 6: Rise and Fall are: establishing a new government, building wonders, clearing out barbarians from your civ’s area, encountering new civs, recruiting great people, establishing a new district for the first time (such as a harbor), pressuring a free city to join your civ, establishing a trading post, doing bold actions such as settling a city near other civs, becoming a suzerain, etc.
There’s a lot of stuff, and you can see what has earned you era points by viewing your timeline. You can view your timeline by clicking the scroll icon in the top left corner of your UI. It’s important to know what age you’re in, because depending on that, you’ll either get bonuses (golden age, heroic age) or penalties (dark age) to your gameplay. Check our guides here for more information about dark ages/heroic ages and golden ages.
