This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

After a long wait and tons of DLC releases later, Gearbox Software’s popular looter shooter franchise is finally back with the release of the brand new Borderlands 3. As you might expect, this is a pretty social game if you’re playing with other players on line. Here’s how to emote and gesture in Borderlands 3.

How to Emote in Borderlands 3

Just like in past games, you’ll be able to initiate duels with other players, and emote at them if you wish. However, the game never lets you know that this is a thing, and you won’t get any tutorials or pop-ups teaching you exactly how to do it.

All you have to do is hold down your pause button –this would be the Options button on PS4 and Menu button on Xbox One.

Just tapping it normally will bring up the pause menu in Borderlands 3, but holding it down will bring up your emote wheel, where you can use the left stick to navigate through your different options and press the X button (or A if you’re on Xbox One) to select your desired emote.

While looking at another player, you can also select the Duel option from the emote wheel to initiate a duel. It’s also worth noting that it’s possible to mark enemies and locations by choosing the Mark option from the emote wheel as well.

But for the most part, you’ll probably just use the wheel options to gesture at your fellow squad mates in the game.

That’s all you need to know about how to emote and gesture in Borderlands 3. Be sure to search for Twinfinite or check our Borderlands 3 guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
