How to Unlock All Modern Day Abilities in Assassin’s Creed Origins

Recommended Videos

After the first few contracts are fulfilled in Assassin’s Creed Origins, after completing the Prologue specifically which takes place before heading to Alexandria, players are introduced to the new modern day protagonist Layla Hassan. She’s an Abstergo employee who has gone rogue in order to prove herself worthy of the Animus project. Having discovered Bayek’s tomb, she took some DNA, linked up her portable Animus and dove right in.

When you first get control of Layla in the modern day in Assassin’s Creed Origins, who is controlled in third-person much like Desmond Miles, your movement is simple. You can walk, and you can crouch, but you can’t climb, jump, drop, or fight at all. At first, it seems like that’s normal in these modern day sections, but then you may notice some collectibles (papers of Layla’s that were scattered around the cave) in places you can’t reach. Before spending hours trying to figure out a way to get up to those places (like I did) let us save you some time. You actually have to unlock the modern day abilities to run, jump, climb, and drop.

To do this, you simply have to progress the story in Assassin’s Creed Origins. Continue on and complete the main quest called Aya, and you’ll be pulled to Layla again, this time with the ability to run, jump, climb, and everything else. Continue on and take down the Crocodile, Hyena, Scarab, and Lizard, and next time you take control of Layla you’ll be able to assassinate the Abstergo employees that are coming for you.
