Is There Splitscreen Local Co-Op Multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey?

Recommended Videos

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is now out in the wild, and players can enjoy the game’s full-blown RPG elements as they go about stealthily or loudly killing foes in ancient Greece with either protagonist Alexios or Kassandra. With Ubisoft Quebec introducing two protagonists in Odyssey, some gamers might be wondering if the developers have included  splitscreen local co-op functionality. After all, previous games in the series had multiplayer elements and Ubisoft is no stranger to co-op features. If you’re wondering if there’s any splitscreen local co-op multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, we have unfortunate news.

With Origins’ arena battles making a return in Odyssey, Ubisoft could probably add co-op tailored arena fights. There are also plenty of soldiers through its Nemesis-like system that you can recruit, with each one having unique traits. Being able to have your buddy control them after you’ve added them to your crew would probably be fun. If only it was actually a thing.

Using both Alexios and Kassandra in splitscreen local co-op sounds like great fun. However, this feature is nowhere to be found in Odyssey. In fact, there’s not a single multiplayer feature in the game. Ubisoft wanted to focus on making the game a great single-player experience, instead.

Adding new features and game modes post-release has been the norm in this day and age. Even so, it’s unlikely that Ubisoft will add splitscreen local co-op multiplayer mode via DLC or a free game update. Its post-launch support for Odyssey has been outlined, and co-op content was not a part of these plans.

It’s probably not wise to get your hopes up for any sort of splitscreen local co-op multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. However, on the off chance Ubisoft does announce a co-op mode for the game, we’ll update this post and let you know.

That’s all we know about whether or not there is splitscreen local co-op multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
