The Violin Beetle is one of the many different bugs you’ll need to catch to fill out your Critterpedia in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It may not be the most lucrative to catch in terms of sell price, but for those looking to complete their museum collection and get all those golden tools, you’ll need it all the same. Here’s everything you need to know about catching the Violin Beetle in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Catching the Violin Beetle
The Violin Beetle can be caught during all daytime hours. The time of year that it’ll show up differs depending on what hemisphere your island is in. These are:
- Northern Hemisphere – May – June, Sept – November
- Southern Hemisphere – March – May, November – December
What you’ll need to do however, is make sure that you’ve got a few tree stumps scattered about your island. The Violin Beetle will only show up if it’s got a stump to rest on, so be sure to check these as you’re running about your island and see if it’s sat on top of the stump.
Tree stumps can be made by simply using an axe to chop a tree down. This will leave a stump which you can dig up with your shovel, but just leave it and the beetle should eventually stop by to appreciate your horticultural skills.
If it is, simply ready your net by equipping it and holding A. Begin walking over to the beetle slowly by moving the left analog stick. Once you’re in range, let go of the A button and you’ll swing your net, catching the Violin Beetle in the process.
Violin Beetle Sell Price
The Violin Beetle sells for 450 Bells if you take it straight to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny. Keep in mind that if you put it in the drop-off box outside the shop itself, they’ll take a small cut of your earnings for the convenience.
If Flick shows up in your town, you can sell the Violin Beetle to him for 1.5x its selling price, taking it up to 675 Bells.
