Getting Scorpions to Spawn in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Now that April is coming to a close and tarantulas are going away for a bit, it’s time to set your sights on another dangerous bug: the scorpion. Similar to tarantulas, scorpions are hunters and they will attack you if they see you with the net or if you start sprinting while near them.

First off, here are the dates where scorpions will become available to catch in Animal Crossing New Horizons:

  • Northern hemisphere: May to October
  • Southern hemisphere: November to April

Also similar to tarantulas, scorpions will only spawn at night, past 7 p.m. Once it’s nighttime, you’ll have the chance to encounter these dangerous things and hunt them down for your collection.

How to Catch Scorpions in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Just like tarantulas, scorpions are hunters, so you’ll need to be careful when dealing with them. To catch scorpions, with your net equipped, whenever you see one, stop moving immediately. It’ll have its pincers raised up against you, so wait till its pincers are lowered, then inch towards it slowly, stopping again once the pincers are raised.

Once you get close enough, release the A button to catch it with your net.

An easy way to get scorpions to spawn is by using a Nook Miles Ticket to visit a mystery island. Once there, you’ll want to pick all flowers, destroy all stones, and uproot all trees to limit the types of bugs that can spawn in that environment.

Assuming there’s no water on the island, you’ll only encounter tiger beetles, wharf roaches, and scorpions. Keep roaming around the island and scaring off the other bugs until your prey appears.

Repeat this process until your inventory is full, then sell off your scorpions for 8,000 Bells each.
