So you’ve not played Animal Crossing New Horizons for about a month or maybe even more. You load up your save, your island filled with weeds and eventually you’re stood outside of your house. Head inside, and your character gives a little shocked expression. Animal Crossing New Horizons’ Cockroaches have invaded your home, and they’re scuttling about all over the floor. You can’t just leave them running about, so chances are you want to know how to get rid of cockroaches in Animal Crossing New Horizons.
How to Get Rid of Cockroaches in Animal Crossing New Horizons
To get rid of cockroaches in Animal Crossing New Horizons, simply walk on over them whenever you see one in your house. This can take a few attempts as they’ll move about pretty quickly whenever you move. You’ll know you’ve put an end to one when a little cockroach ghost floats upwards towards the sky.
You’ll know you’ve got rid of all cockroaches in your house when your character celebrates and says: “All the pesky cockroaches are GONE! I feel so much better now!”
Keep in mind that cockroaches can hide under furniture and other items in your house. If you haven’t received that message to let you know you’ve got rid of them all, try moving some of your furniture and one might scuttle out from underneath.
Can You Catch Cockroaches?
Nope! Cockroaches cannot be caught in Animal Crossing New Horizons. This is because they only ever show up inside your house after not playing the game for longer than a month or after you’ve time traveled for a month or more.
As you cannot equip your tools — including the bug net — in any building (including your house), there’s no way for you to catch the cockroach.
What Do Cockroaches Do in Your House
Cockroaches don’t do anything to the inside of your home other than make it messy by scuttling about. They won’t damage your furniture, eat your fruit or turnips, or anything that otherwise affects the gameplay.
