One of the beauties of Animal Crossing New Horizons is the way it allows you to customize your island and character, not least of which in their appearances. Getting Hairstyles in Animal Crossing New Horizons

As with most other cosmetic options in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you can get more hairstyles through a few select methods. Namely, you’ll need to interact with the Mirror or redeem Nook Miles.

The first method is the easier of the two, as the Mirror is one of the first few pieces of furniture Tom Nook gives you the instructions for how to build. If you don’t have one, wait for the game to progress a bit more and then craft one as necessary. After you do, interact with it and you’ll be given a quick batch of new hairstyles.

The next method is a bit trickier. Nook Miles are a new currency in the series specific to New Horizons, and act as a reward for completing a variety of tasks.

These range from the daily challenges posed to you to completing random challenges scattered throughout the game, such as cleaning up a certain number of weeds around the island or greeting every resident on the island in a single day.

Most of the challenges tie into what you need to do to clear the game too, so you can amass a fine stockpile of Nook Miles just by playing the game as you normally would.

How to Change Hairstyles

Once you have a decent amount of Nook Miles in Animal Crossing New Horizons – about 2,400 to 3,000 – you can then redeem them at the terminal in the Resident Services building. This is the building where you can find Tom Nook to speak to him about various tasks tied to the main game, and where you’ll need to go to redeem Nook Miles for a variety of tasks.

These are the different batches of hairstyles you can unlock with Nook Miles in Animal Crossing New Horizons:

  • Top 8 Pop Hairstyles – 2,400 Miles
  • Top 8 Cool Hairstyles – 2,400 Miles
  • Top 8 Stylish Hair Colors – 3,000 Miles

Redeem your Nook Miles for one of these batches of new hairstyles, and then head back to your house and interact with the mirror. Simply interact with the mirror, and from there, you’ll be able to select and equip the hairstyles you’ve unlocked as you see fit.

So, to recap how to get more hairstyles in Animal Crossing New Horizons:

  1. Save up Nook Miles

These are used to unlock a variety of different cosmetics and items, not least of which being hairstyles. You’ll need at least 2,500.

  2. Go to the Resident Services building

This is the building where Tom Nook is located, and there will be a terminal inside where you can redeem your Nook Miles for new hairstyles.

  3. Go to your house and interact with your mirror

This is one of the first objects Tom Nook shows you how to build, so if you don’t have one, it should be easy to build. Once you’ve interacted with it, you’ll be given some new hairstyles, and you can select and change your hairstyle to these or whatever else you’ve unlocked.
