Nintendo has finally released details as to what will be happening during E3 2019. The company will be hosting a live-streamed Nintendo Direct presentation and will host a Smash Bros. Ultimate and Splatoon 2 tournament as well as plenty of new gameplay of Switch titles from the Nintendo Treehouse crew.
We just really hope that Nintendo finally gives us release dates for these 6 Switch games that we still don’t know much about.
Bayonetta 3
Can I just remind all of you that PlatinumGames’ first announced Bayonetta 3 at the Game Awards all the way back in 2017? Since then, we’ve yet to see any gameplay or even an image of what this game looks like.
We know that PlatinumGames has a lot on their plate right now considering that they’re also developing stuff like Astral Chain and Babylon’s Fall, but what about the most stylish witch out there?
We need some Bayonetta action over at Nintendo’s E3 booth this year, because it has been way too long.
We’re ready to unleash bullets, demons, and Bayo’s high heels into the hearts of our enemies, but PlatinumGames has been pretty quiet on the development front. I mean, Astral Chain was only announced in February, and even that game is coming out before Bayonetta 3 –what gives?
Town
Town is a brand-new JRPG from Game Freak that is still slated to launch sometime in 2019. Pokemon Sword and Shield are also coming out later this year, so Game Freak has a lot of work on their hands.
Town is the placeholder name given to the game at its initial reveal back in September and apparently, the entire game takes place in a small town that seems to the focal point of this turn-based JRPG.
Scary monsters have mysteriously appeared in your character’s town and it’s up to them and the other townsfolks to fight back and protect their home from these strange creatures.
We’re not sure if Nintendo will show off more info about this charming title at E3, but how cool would it be to finally get a solid release date, or heck –even a new gameplay trailer would be rad.
Animal Crossing
All of the Animal Crossing fans have been patiently waiting for more juicy news on the upcoming sim game from Nintendo, but it’s been like half a year and we still have no concrete info besides the fact that it’s coming sometime this year.
We just want to be in debt to Tom Nook once again, Nintendo –is that so hard to ask? I want to run around my adorable little town and talk to my anthropomorphic friends; I want to go visit my best friends village and steal all of their special fruit, and I also want to make my dream house filled with Nintendo memorabilia.
Considering that Animal Crossing: New Leaf back on the 3DS sold like hotcakes, becoming the best-selling game in the franchise, we have no doubt that the first console Animal Crossing game in over 10 years will do just as well or even go on to sell way more than New Leaf ever did.
I predict that Nintendo’s booth at E3 this year will be solely focused on Animal Crossing for Switch and we’ll be knowing a lot more about the game once June comes around, and if not, Nintendo will be receiving a strongly-worded letter from yours truly.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield
The internet went wild over the first trailer for the upcoming pair of Switch RPG’s: Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The three new starter Pokemon (Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble), have even made fans split up into different groups like #SobbleSquad and #ScorbunnyStans.
Sword and Shield are the first core/mainline titles in the Pokemon series to come to consoles and it’s definitely something to celebrate.
The 8th generation of Pokemon will be taking place in the Galar region, which seems to be inspired by Europe and we suspect that there will be tons of new Pokemon to capture and gym badges to collect.
Sword and Shield will be coming sometime in late 2019, probably November, but hopefully Nintendo gives us a concrete date next month during their E3 Direct presentation –I need to catch a Grookey right now.
Luigi’s Mansion 3
Luigi never seems to catch a break. Luigi’s Mansion 3 takes our timid protagonist and throws him into yet another terrifying mansion, a very tall with a lot of floors that are most likely teeming with ghosts and other paranormal monsters that Luigi is not very fond of.
Coming out in October, preferably close to Halloween, would be a perfect release date for fans to get their hands on Luigi’s newest horror trip.
Man, we feel so bad for Luigi having to be the one to get stuck vacuuming up ghosts, but hey, someone’s gotta have to do it. Nintendo’s E3 2019 needs to give us more of Luigi’s Mansion 3 because we’re itching to jump back into the shoes of our true favorite plumber… sorry Mario.
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening on Switch is a full-blown remake of the Game Boy game that was announced back in February during a Nintendo Direct.
We were surprised to see that the game would be coming this year and while I don’t believe it to be true, playing this beloved reimagining of one of my favorite Zelda games so soon would be a treat.
Link’s Awakening started off as a port of Link to the Past, but the developers ended up creating an entirely new game that was way different from past Zelda’s at the time.
For example, there was a very long trading quest that required the player to find and trade like a dozen items that took forever to complete, and there were tons of Mario references like Chain Chomps, Goomba’s, and Piranha Plants.
The world of Link’s Awakening looks super pretty in the reveal trailer that we got, and we can’t wait to see more of this remake –hopefully, it’s at E3 alongside a release date.
