The Last of Us Part II Gets a Release Date and New Gameplay Trailer
Naughty Dog and Sony have both revealed that there will indeed be some sort of Last of Us reveal during the 20-minute presentation that is State of Play.
Considering that the publisher has been radio silent for the past year or so, this event makes for the perfect time to finally reveal the release date, or at least a release window, for the hot sequel.
Even the Vice President of Naughty Dog, Neill Druckmann, recently tweeted about the event, stating that “We’ve been silent for too long. It’s time to put an end to that.”
This obviously means that we’ll get a blow out for The Last of Us Part II; I’m talking trailers and gameplay footage –it’s time for this game to come out of the dark.
There’s also a Last of Us Part II media event happening the same day so we know that something is going down… something big.
Iron Man VR Info
If you remember earlier this year, Iron Man VR opened up the first-ever State of Play that was put out by Sony.
Since Marvel has been busting out new games such as Spider-Man PS4 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and then with Marvel’s Avengers coming next year, it was no surprise that they would begin to create VR experiences.
Iron Man VR is PSVR exclusive and lets you… you know… become Iron Man and fly high into the skies and shoot enemy planes and villains down with your powerful arsenal of high-tech weaponry.
We’ve yet to get a release date for this month, so assuming it’s still planned for 2019, expect to see a release date for this bad boy very soon.
MediEvil Trailer
The classic platformer MediEvil is getting a gorgeous remake on the PS4 and it’s coming out in about one month, on Oct. 25.
The thing is, Sony has not been pushing the game too hard, with it only making an appearance this past May with a new story trailer, and if Sony want to continue to market the game, you can bet that we’ll at least see some more gameplay during the State of Play.
This is one of the PS4 exclusives to hit the console in October alongside Concrete Genie, so I have no doubt that it will show up to the party.
Concrete Genie Gameplay
As I looked up the release date for Concrete Genie in order to accurately jot down these predictions, I was quite shocked to see that it’s only two weeks away from releasing and I feel like Sony has not talked about it too much.
Back in July, we got a release date of Oct. 8, but not much else after that.
This charming adventure game has such a unique style and gameplay that isn’t being marketed very well, at least from what I noticed.
Maybe the artistic paint-brush and creative elements of Concrete Genie are stopping it from competing with some of the bigger PS4 exclusives, but we need to know more.
Let’s see some more gameplay and a new trailer during the State of Play to remind people that it’s coming out very soon.
Death Stranding Montage; No New Gameplay
Okay, after seeing all of the new trailers and gameplay during Tokyo Game Show, most folks now have a better handling on how Death Stranding works and the premise of the story (kind of).
Kojima’s new I.P. has the gaming community excited but also very bewildered whenever new footage is shown off.
We see Sam pee on a mushroom, then we see him taking care of a baby by rocking it, and then we see him hit some enemies with a briefcase –it’s wild.
Surprisingly, Death Stranding isn’t that far away from being out in the wild, only about 6-7 weeks now, which is wild to say.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing any new trailers of Death Stranding but I do think that there will be some sort of montage trailer for the game, reminding PlayStation fans of the wacky and inventive action game.
Ghosts of Tsushima Details
OK, this might be a stretch but hear us out for a second. It has been over a year since we’ve seen anything of Sucker Punch’s new I.P., Ghosts of Tsushima but this State of Play could bring it back into the discussion, maybe with a “one more thing” type of announcement at the end of the presentation.
But, since this State of Play is only 20 minutes long, there’s little chance that there will be time or reason to talk about Ghosts of Tsushima, especially if a Last of Us Part II release date happens.
Still, this samurai action game looks absolutely gorgeous, but we have a feeling that it might end up coming to the PS5… only time will tell.
All we know is that that would be a big win for the PS5 launch library.
