Originally released in  2018 for PS4, and then in 2019 for PC alongside the western release, Crystar was developed by FuRyu as a JRPG with rather dark themes.

Now it’ll come for Nintendo Switch in spring 2022 following the Japanese release on Feb. 23.

Interestingly, the original western release was published by Spike Chunsoft, but apparently, the rights for the new platforms have moved to NIS America, which isn’t too surprising since Nippon Ichi’s western arm has been working with FuRyu for a while.

Below you can check out the announcement trailer and an official description of Crystar directly from the publisher.

“I’m sorry Mirai, I’m going to take responsibility for killing you…I will bring you Revival.”

Rei and Mirai are sisters suddenly dragged into a mysterious world known as Purgatory. Rei discovers a hidden power allowing her to fight against the otherworldly monsters, but loses control and accidentally kills her sister Mirai. Crystar tells the story of Rei’s journey to atone and battle to bring Mirai back to life. This action RPG showcases its unique narrative through the use of four playable characters, each with their own special Guardian, as well as the use of the Tear Gauge and Torments.

It is with tears shed that you will revive the dead.
