Even as we move into the latest generation of videogame hardware with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X|S, the love for all things retro is still very apparent among the community. It harkens back to the days where graphics are not always that important, and gameplay remains the top priority. Now, if you are seeking such a trip down memory lane, publisher Incube8 Games and developers Carmelo Electronics have you covered with the announcement of Pine Creek, a Game Boy Color game coming out in October 2021.
You read that right, Pine Creek will be a physical release of a Game Boy Color cartridge in 2021. An adventure made for a more mature audience, this murder-mystery adventure will transport players to a small town where ritual killings have been taking place. A young girl has also disappeared, sparking concerns that a cult may be behind all of the shenanigans.
As the girl’s best friend, it is up to you to uncover the mystery behind all of this craziness and find her, before it is all too late.
The Game Bou Color release of Pine Creek will come in two editions, Standard and Collector’s edition. If you have the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, or Game Boy Advance, you are all set. Both versions will consist of the cartridge, a plastic protector, and a game manual in the same kind of packaging you would expect for the era.
Limited to just 200 copies, the Collector’s edition will sport a red cartridge instead. It also comes with a sticker sheet, the game soundtrack on CD and in digital format, a Pine Creek poster, an enamel pin, and a certificate of authenticity.
If you are itching to get your hands on Pine Creek for the Game Boy family, pre-orders open from July 2 to August 9. For those who do not have access to the handheld consoles, you can also find the game on Itch.io.
