How to Revive Squadmates in Mass Effect 1 and 2

Reviving teammates in the first two Mass Effect games are somewhat similar as they are tied to the use of the same ability: Unity.

Unity is a powerful ability that you can upgrade within the Medic tree available to all Shepards regardless of what class they picked in Mass Effect 1. Unity allows you to revive squadmates while in combat without having to wait until all the enemies are defeated for them to get themselves back up.

Upgrading Unity further will increase the amount of HP that they will revive with, so it’s well worth the points especially if you’re playing on higher difficulties. Unity can be accessed from the Power Wheel and has a rather long cooldown, so use it wisely.

In Mass Effect 2, it works more or less the same (with a much shorter cooldown), pulling from your Medi-Gel reserves, and can be upgraded by purchasing the Emergency Shielding and Trauma Module. It will not only heal Shepard but also revive any fallen squadmates.

Mass Effect 3 First-Aid

Mass Effect 3’s First-Aid ability replaces Unity and works similar to how it did in Mass Effect 2. The difference this time, though, is that the Mass Effect 3 health bar is that in addition to reviving squadmates that are down, using First-Aid will also restore lost health bars, pushing Shepard back to his/her maximum health.

That’s all you need to know for how to use first-aid and Unity to revive squadmates in Mass Effect 1. For more tips, tricks and FAQs answered be sure to check out our Mass Effect Legendary Edition wiki guide for more helpful info.
