How to Kill Shopkeepers Fast and Easy in Spelunky 2
There are a couple of fast and easy methods for dealing with Shopkeepers in Spelunky 2, and like most aspects of the game, the best one will depend on RNG.
If the Shopkeeper has a Freeze Ray, then you’ve lucked out, as this is the easiest method for getting rid of them. Drop some cash on it and then use it to freeze them. You can then jump up on them to kill them in one hit, allowing you to plunder their shop for all its worth.
If they don’t have a Freeze Ray for sale, then your next bet is to use Bombs and a Rope to your advantage. First, throw a Rope up near the entrance to the Shop where there’s room to climb high above it, and then climb up high enough so that you’d be up out of the Shopkeeper’s attack range.
Then, throw a bomb at a downward angle into the shop and climb all the way up the Rope. This will trigger the Shopkeeper to pursue you, but for whatever reason they’ll never climb the Rope.
From there, all you need to do is time your next bomb throw to blow him to pieces or drop down on his head a few times. Either way, he should go down before long and the shops wears will be yours for the taking.
How to Deal With Shopkeepers Guarding Level Exits
Of course, killing Shopkeepers in Spelunky 2 carries lasting consequences, not least of which being that armed Shopkeepers will guard every Level Exit after you do the deed.
Fortunately, there’s also an easy method for dealing with these vengeful traders.
Since they’ll always be right in front of the Exit, you can usually scope out where they are through the level’s terrain blocks by pressing and holding down on the D-Pad.
You can then toss something their way while out of their range to stun or kill them, letting you use the Exit before they get their bearings back.
