The gaming industry has been rallying to support the fight against coronavirus, and the New Japan BGM Philharmonic Orchestra just made its contribution… with Super Mario.
The New Japan BGM Philharmonic Orchestra is both a professional orchestra dedicated to playing video game music and a non-profit organization with educational and social contribution purposes.
They just released a series of videos titled “Mario de Handwashing” in which members of the orchestra play the famous Super Mario Overworld Theme followed by the Course Clear fanfare for a total of about 30 seconds.
The 30 seconds duration isn’t random, as it aims to accompany our handwashing sessions and especially to help kids that can’t yet count to 30 time their use of warm water and soap to keep COVID-19 at bay.
On top of that, for every retweet on the tweet below and share on Facebook, the orchestra will donate 1 yen (up to a total of 500,000, which translates into approximately $4640) to The Tokyo Community Foundation’s COVID-19 relief fund.
Below you can find various versions of the video, including a few different combinations of instruments to let you change your handwashing soundtrack depending on your mood.
