Today German media announced that German authorities are planning to ban major events until August 31, and Gamescom will likely be affected.
Following the reports, the organizers of the event have taken to Twitter to announce that they don’t have all the details yet, but they expect the ban to affect planning for the event.
They did not yet announce how such plans have been affected and whether the event will be postponed or canceled, but they did reiterate the promise that the event will “definitely take place digitally” at the very least.
You can see the tweet below.
Of course, we’ll keep you posted as soon as the organizers of the event make a detailed announcement, which should come “shortly.”
The organizers of Gamescom already announced a few days ago that they were expanding their online strategy, with a final evaluation on the feasibility of the event to come in mid-May.
Tickets have been on sale online for a while, but they will be refinded if the physical event is not held.
Since the situation is currently developed, please stay tuned. Of course, we’ll cover all the news coming out of Gamescom 2020 regardless of whether it’s hosted physically or digitally.
