Update: Geoff Keighley, a reputable well-known industry figure is claiming that his sources are telling him that the official release date is still just “Holiday 2020.” We’ll continue to monitor all of this and provide more updates as they come along.

Update 2: The website has been changed back to Holiday 2020. For now, it’s best to assume that’s still the official release window. You can see what it briefly looked like for a few minutes within the original article below.

Today a change on the official page for the Xbox Series X on Microsoft revealed that the release date for the Xbox Series X has been narrowed down to Thanksgiving 2020. For the non-Americans reading this, you can translate that to Nov. 26, 2020.

This news directly follows today’s PS5 technical reveal which focused heavily on specifications, and the technical breakdown of said specs, but it did not reveal a release date, price, or what the console will look like. That will have to wait until a later date.

On the other hand, Microsoft continues to be quite transparent, as it has been in the lead up to the dawn of the next generation of consoles.

The timing of this announcement of the Xbox Series X’s release date is bold considering the air of uncertainty around the Coronavirus outbreak, but Microsoft appears to be confident enough in this state of the production to go ahead and let the masses know.

It of course could shift depending on how everything shakes out, but as we sit here in mid-March the Xbox Series X will be out on Thanksgiving 2020. If we get a bit more detail via a blog post or something of that ilk in the coming hours, we’ll be sure update this post.
