Niantic, Inc. has announced that the March Community Day for two of their mobile games, Pokemon Go and Harry Potter Wizards Unite, will both be postponed until further notice due to safety concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Pokemon Go Community Day, which was supposed to take place this weekend on March 15, would have featured the Psychic-type Pokemon Abra.

At this time, Niantic has not shared a timeframe for when the Community Day will be rescheduled, but in the meantime, players can still enjoy a few in-game bonuses:

  • A one-time purchase bundle of 30 Incense for 1 PokeCoin. Incense will also last for one hour
  • 1/2 Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during this time period
  • PokeStops will now drop Gifts more frequently
  • Pokemon habitats will increase and more Pokémon will be appearing in the wild

These Pokemon Go bonuses have been designed to make the single-player experience more enjoyable until the Community Day event is rescheduled. For example, the Incense items can be used to attract Pokemon to your location without the need to walk or explore. The bonuses will go into effect immediately and will last until further notice.

Likewise, the March Community Day for Harry Potter Wizards Unite will also be postponed, and Niantic has not shared a timeframe for when it may be rescheduled. Unlike in Pokemon Go, however, there are no extra bonuses announced for this game at this time.

Niantic reminds players to be on the lookout on their social media pages and via email newsletters for more updates on when the two Community Day events may be rescheduled.
