Publisher 2K Games announced it would be “gradually sunsetting” the MOBA-lite multiplayer game to focus its efforts and resources on other projects in a series of tweets by the game’s account and a support page on 2K’s official website.

As of today, Battleborn has been removed from all digital storefronts on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Those players with a digital or physical copy of the game can continue playing the game as normal.

The game’s premium virtual currency, platinum, can no longer be purchased after Feb. 24, 2020, but can still be spent until the game shuts down.

Battleborn’s servers and the game itself will be deactivated in January 2021. According to the support page, that means any multiplayer matches and the single-player campaign will no longer work after the date.

Battleborn originally released in May 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One before being converted as a “free trial” over a year later in June 2017. The free trial offered all multiplayer modes and maps, but locked out the single-player campaign and offered a rotating roster of heroes.
