X019 kicks off tomorrow and Microsoft is touting it as their “biggest” show yet, promising tons of reveals and game announcements for Inside Xbox. Of course, we’ve got our own little wishlist of announcements we’d like to see, so let’s get going.
Microsoft xCloud Update
Microsoft xCloud has been in a sort of beta phase for the past couple of months now but it’s touted as being a premier streaming experience that allows users to play their favorite Xbox games like Gears 5 and Sea of Thieves by way of the Cloud.
With all of these other streaming services in the works such as Google Stadia, xCloud needs to be different enough in order for people to want to jump on board to this “cloud gaming” future.
Microsoft has yet to announce when xCloud will be available for the general public, but we’re almost 100% positive that it will be talked about in some capacity during the big show this week in London.
Tunic Gets a 2020 Launch Window
Tunic is a charming and adorable isometric action-adventure title that comes from a solo developer named Andrew Shouldice that plays very similarly to the Legend of Zelda series. The cute little main character is a fox and even has a sword and shield and dons a green garb that looks just like Link’s go-to outfit.
Fans have been waiting to hear more about this Microsoft exclusive ever since it was announced back at E3 of 2017.
We got some more gameplay footage just last year at E3 but it was missing from the conference this past summer which was unfortunate.
Since the dev and Microsoft skipped out on showing Tunic this year, maybe this means that they plan on bringing it out of the dark during the show at X019.
We just all want to play as that stupidly-cute little fox.
A Bunch of New Xbox Game Pass Titles
Microsoft continues to push Xbox Game Pass by adding huge AAA titles to the subscription service and it’s unlikely the company will pass over the opportunity to announce more at X019.
Some big contenders this year that would make fine additions to the service would be the Resident Evil 2 remake from Capcom, FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, or even Plague Tale from Asobo Studio.
Whether or not we see these games come to the service, I’m sure whatever games they add will be a substantial reason for Xbox/PC owners to jump on board.
New Trailer for Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori and the Blind Forest has just released on the Nintendo Switch and people (like myself) are hungry for more of this artistic and heart-breaking indie Metroidvania.
Unfortunately, it seems that this sequel won’t be coming to the Switch, at least at the launch, but let’s hope for a Switch announcement alongside a final trailer before the game comes out on Feb. 11.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is just one of those unique experiences that truly stands out next to some of the other Microsoft exclusives and we’re excited for it to fill out the first half of the year for the Xbox One in 2020.
Psychonauts 2 and Halo Infinite Tease
This X019 prediction may be a bit unlikely but I can still see it happening as a kind of “one more thing” situation towards the final minutes of Microsoft’s presentation.
Halo Infinite was first revealed back in 2018 and we got another trailer at E3 just a couple of months ago, giving us the news that the title would be coming to the next Xbox, codenamed as Scarlett.
We have yet to see any gameplay for Halo Infinite and developer 343 Industries has been pretty quiet in general on the game. Here’s hoping that another trailer is shown or a simple tease.
As far as Psychonauts 2, it feels like Double Fine has been working on this much-awaited sequel for forever now and although the game is slated for a release sometime in 2020, we don’t know too much about it.
Expect for some news regarding its current development process from Tim Schafer or something. Hopefully, the game is going well and we can get our hands on it soon.
Release Dates for Age of Empires 4, Bleeding Edge, Wasteland 3 and Minecraft Dungeons
The squad-based role-playing game, Wasteland, the 4v4 team brawler from Ninja Theory, the Minecraft dungeon-crawler from Mojang, and the long-awaited real-time strategy title from Relic are all ripe for a solid release date and X019 is the perfect time to bring these titles out of the dark once and for all.
Age of Empires IV might be the only title out of this bunch that might release later than the others but there are is a tease from Microsoft that pretty much confirms its existence at X019 but will we get a solid date? We’ll just have to wait and see.
New IP From Obsidian and Rare
Obsidian and Rare have both recently released two pretty big titles with The Outer Worlds and Sea of Thieves but reportedly, the two Microsoft studios will be announcing two new intellectual properties.
We have no clue as to what these could be. They won’t be sequels to existing properties, certainly, so perhaps there’s something new in the pipeline that’s ready to showcase? Indeed, Microsoft seems to be super-focused on the games this time around more than anything else, so be prepared for some impressive-looking reveals.
Please be excited.
What do you guys think will be shown during X019? Any big games or announcements you’re hoping to see and/or hear about? Let us know in the comments below!
