Today, during Blizzcon 2019, Blizzard formally revealed the heavily rumored sequel to their class-based team shooter, Overwatch 2 via a new cinematic: Zero Hour.

The delightful and heartfelt CGI trailer showed Tracer, Winston, and Mei working together to go up against insurmountable odds. In the trailer Mei takes a critical injury, forcing Tracer to evacuate her while Winston is left to battle a massive mech alone… that is before Genji, Reinhart and other heroes show up to save the day.

The gameplay revealed at the Blizzcon main stage looked fantastic and touted a new art style. Players will be able to use their skills with other players in tandem, level up and customize their favorite heroes’ abilities to their liking, and will feature a “highly replayable” gameplay mode called Hero Missions.

Overwatch 2 will be a complete story experience according to director Jeff Kaplan, and more details about the story and its missions will be revealed during a panel this Saturday, Nov. 2.

Overwatch 2 will feature a brand new core competitive PvP game mode called Push and “multiple” new heroes including one revealed today, Sojourn.

Kaplan also addressed the elephant in the room: what is going to happen to Overwatch 1. The PvP will be a shared multiplayer environment where players of Overwatch 1 will be able to play on all the same maps, and get all the same heroes that Overwatch 2 players will have access to. All cosmetics will carry over as well.

Overwatch 2 we’re assuming will be out for PC, but that’s all we can guess so far. As more information and details trickles out throughout the event, we’ll update this post.
