Indeed, remote play will now run on phones and tablets running Android 5.0 or later. To get involved you just need to download the ‘PS4 Remote Play’ app from the Google Play store.

You’ll also be able to use the Dual Shock 4 controller when remote streaming, too, across both Android and iOS devices.

Speaking of iOS, remote play functionality has been improved on Apple devices to display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation.

Elsewhere, the PS4 Party feature has also been updated for 7.00 with the following enhancements:

  • Maximum number of Party users increased from 8 to 16
  • Network connectivity improved
  • Audio quality improved
  • Accessibility support with Chat Transcription has been added (US Only)

As listed above, Party App now includes a chat subscription function that converts party choice chat to text or enables you to enter text that is read aloud to other party members.

In related PS4 news, Sony recently dropped the price of its streaming subscription service PS Now, also adding a bunch of new AAA games to its library.
