While The Surge 2 may allow you to immediately take your foes’ equipment as your own, some pieces of gear require some crafting to maximize their efficiency. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to craft armor.
How to Craft Armor in The Surge 2
Crafting armor in The Surge 2 works much in the same way as any other game that allows you to craft gear: By using a blueprint and materials, you can create new equipment at the Crafting Station found in the Medbay.
To get these blueprints and materials though, you’ll need to either find them scattered throughout the world or farm them from enemies.
The first method is as simple as it sounds, only requiring you to keep an eye out as you explore each area of The Surge 2’s world.
The second method is a bit trickier though. Each material and blueprint is only dropped by certain enemies, typically shown by what they have equipped or what they’re made of depending on if they’re humans or machines respectively.
Likewise, you won’t know which materials you’ll need until you have a blueprint, which can then be checked by visiting a Crafting Station to see what materials are required to construct the armor it details.
As such, you may need to farm specific enemies to get the blueprints or materials you’ll need to craft the armor you want. This can require a time sink and rolling the dice with the game’s RNG elements a fair few times.
It’s still very much a doable venture though, so stick with it until you have what you need to get crafting.
Once you have the necessary materials and blueprints, head to the Crafting Station and select the armor you want to create. So long as you have everything you need, it will be created and added to your inventory.
So, to recap, to craft armor in The Surge 2:
- Obtain the blueprint of the armor you want to create
This will allow you to view which materials you need. Blueprints can be found scattered throughout the world or as drops from enemies.
- Obtain the materials needed to create the armor from the blueprint
You can check what materials you need by examining the blueprint at a Crafting Station. Like with blueprints, materials are obtained both as items in the world and as drops from enemies.
- Go to a Crafting Station and create the armor
The armor will be added to your inventory after it’s crafted.
How to Equip Crafted Armor
Of course, the armor won’t be worth much if you don’t equip it to your character.
To equip your crafted armor in The Surge 2, open up your inventory, select the armor you wish to use and equip it. Note that the armor you can equip is limited by your core power, so make sure you have enough before trying to use your new creation.
That should cover everything there is to know about how to craft armor in The Surge 2. For more on the game, check out our full review of the worthwhile sequel.
