Gears 5 features a ton of different customization options and cosmetics for its cast of characters. These can be shown off in any of the game’s three multiplayer modes, but if you’re looking to get yourself a particularly fancy cosmetic, or just want to get an XP Booster, you’re going to need Iron. Here’s how to get Iron in Gears 5.
How to Get Iron in Gears 5
- Purchasing with Microtransactions
- Earned in Tour of Duty
As we’ve noted above, there are actually only two ways you can get Iron in Gears 5.
Buy Iron as Microtransactions
The first is to simply purchase it from the game’s Store. This can be accessed from any menu or lobby screen by pressing the Menu button on your Xbox One controller.
This will bring up the menu at the bottom of the screen, and you’ll want to use the ‘Store’ option (the shopping cart), to access it. From here, use RB to tab over to the ‘Iron’ option. It can then be purchased in the following denominations:
- 500 – $4.99
- 1,000 – $9.99
- 2,250 – $19.99
- 6,000 – $49.99
- 10,000 – $59.99
- 12,500 – $99.99
Earn Iron in Gears 5’s Tour of Duty
The other way to get Iron is to simply earn it by ranking up in Gears 5’s Tour of Duty system. This is essentially a Season Pass of sorts, that tasks players with completing three daily objectives to earn rewards.
According to the Gears 5 official site, however, only a “limited amount of Iron” can be earned through each Tour of Duty season, so don’t expect this to be an endless stream.
