Empire of Sin, the mob themed strategy game developed by Romero Games and Paradox Interactive received its first official gameplay trailer this morning during the Xbox Gamescom 2019 Presentation.
Empire of Sin is a top-down strategy game based on the ruthless underground crime rings of 1920’s Chicago. The player will take on the role of a new member to the city as they try to build their empire and take over the city as they rise in the ranks.
The game was originally announced at E3 2019, but details were scarce at the time. The gameplay trailer revealed today at Gamescom shows players what they can expect when they load up their Tommy Guns and take to the streets in Empire of Sin.
The video below reveals more details about the story as well. The player character is a new resident of Chicago, who quickly builds up their reputation, makes contacts with others, and builds a team of mobsters that help expand their criminal empire.
The gameplay trailer shows the grid-based combat similar to XCOM and other Paradox strategy games, a recruitment mechanic that allows you to pick and choose which of your crew you take with you into missions, and an overall map that shows how much control you have exerted over the city.
It appears as though your main hub will be located in a speakeasy, a place where people go to purchase and consume liquor underground in the prohibition era of the 1920s.
From your hub, you will recruit, upgrade and assemble your team as you attempt to take over the streets of Chicago.
Players will manage their time, money and alcohol as they attempt to work with, or against, the various other crime organizations.
Empire of Sin will be coming to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch in Spring 2020.
